Welcome to Whiteman AFB, MO home of your new duty station. We recommend that you make hotel reservations well in advance of your arrival. During the PCS season Whiteman Inn is often fully booked. If you have reservations please make sure you keep your confirmation number with you, this is your proof of reservation, without it your room may be assigned to someone else. In Processing 

All officers and enlisted soldiers must report to the Whiteman Inn (24-hr Central Arrival Point) on arrival. The Personnel Center is located at 325 Mitchell Ave, Bldg Number 3011. You can reach them at (660) 687-1844 or DSN 975-1844.

You can expect to be with the detachment for 5 days. When you get signed in, you will receive a billeting assignment, bedding and a temporary meal card if you are not on separate rations. If your family arrives with you, Whiteman Inn will help make them comfortable during your inprocessing. To make things easier with attaining temporary housing for your family, please make reservations at Whiteman Inn, (660) 687-1844.

You should have all of your personal records on hand. Personnel, Finance, Medical and Dental. You must be in uniform to inprocess. The duty uniform at Whiteman AFB, MO is utility. Be sure that you have enough uniforms with you to begin duties after inprocessing.

Chaplains provide or perform religious support for all authorized personnel of Whiteman AFB, MO during peacetime and across the full spectrum of war in order to support the command in the facilitation of the free exercise of religion. They also advise the command in matters of religion, morals, morale, and ethical issues in order to support the unit mission.

Chaplains, as ordained clergy of specific denominations/faith groups, provide counseling; perform baptisms, dedications, weddings, and other rituals and sacraments in accordance with the rules and guidelines of their churches. For specific ministries, make arrangements with the chaplain of your choice well in advance. Most events require preparation.

The Commissary is a modern supermarket serving the needs of active duty, retirees, reserves and their families. They offer a complete line of meat, produce, grocery, baker and deli items. Items are sold at cost, with an added 5 percent surcharge to pay for remodeling and construction of new commissaries. A regular patron can save more than $2,000 each year.

Shoppers must show appropriate ID cards when making purchases. The commissary has self-employed baggers to assist patrons with their purchase. Baggers are not commissary employees and work for tips only.

Educational Services

EDUCATION OFFICE
The Base Training and Education Services Center located within The Whiteman Professional Developoment Center offers many education opportunities including associate, bachelor and master degree programs.

The guidance counselors and educational specialists are available Mondays-Thursdays 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., to assist military personnel, family members and DOD civilian employees in meeting their Professional Military Education (PME), vocational and educational goals. Counseling services are available by appointment (687-5750).

 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE -- FEDERAL STUDENT AID(FAFSA)
**Information about Basic Education Grants is available through the local college representatives and the FAFSA Web site.

 

AIR FORCE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED DISTRIBUTIVE LEARNING (AFIADL)
**AFIADL offers courses in three general categories. The categories are: Professional Military Education (PME), Specialized Courses, and Career Development Courses(CDC). PME courses are directed toward officers and NCO's to aid them in their professional development. Specialized courses focus on technical and special subjects useful in many career fields. CDCs contain vital information for each career field. Voluntary enrollment into CDCs in the student's Air Force Specialty Code is contingent upon approval of the student's squadron commander. CDCs can be purchased for studying purposes. CDC's may be used to keep up with new changes to the career field and/or to study for WAPS testing. The package will include all Volume Review Exercises (VRE). However, tests will not be available since credit for upgrade training was received when the CDC was first initiated. AFIADL courses are available to active duty personnel, ANG, AF Reserves, Civil Service employees, Non­Appropriated Fund employees, and volunteer workers sponsored by the Air Force. Area School Districts

Knob Noster R-VIII School District
**The Knob Noster R-VIII School District has four educational centers that serve more than 1,800 students. The district holds a AAA rating -- the highest available, yet it has the lowest tax rate for a school with that rating. Whiteman Elementary School, which is part of the Knob Noster R-VIII School District, is on base for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Knob Noster Elementary School serves children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Knob Noster Middle School serves grades six to eight. Knob Noster High School offers vocational and advanced education credits for students in grades nine to 12. The school system also offers classes for children with special needs, including those at an advanced learning level.

Warrensburg School District
**The Warrensburg School District is a AAA-rated school system serving more than 2,100 students. The system includes a high school, one middle school, three elementary schools, the Warrensburg Kindergarten Center and the Warrensburg Vocational-Technical School, which offers training to youths and adults.

Sedalia School District 200
**Sedalia School District 200 is a AAA-rated school system. The public school system includes five elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. There are also several parochial schools in Sedalia which serve children from preschool age through high school.

 

Local Colleges/Universities

**WARRENSBURG VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL SCHOOL (WVTS): WVTS is located in Warrensburg, 9 miles from WAFB. It offers a wide variety of adult evening classes. Classes such as auto maintenance, welding, computer programming, bookkeeping, shorthand and others are available. The WVTS phone number is a (660) 747-2283.

**STATE FAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE: SFCC main campus is located in Sedalia, 20 miles from WAFB. SFCC offers certificate programs and associate degree programs. Both day and evening courses are available. The programs at SFCC are varied enough to allow students many different fields to plan a program that will transfer with little or no loss of credit. **NON­TRADITIONAL EDUCATION: A variety of degrees and college courses are available through External Degree programs, correspondence courses, video college classes, satellite courses, etc. If you are interested in a class or a degree program not offered on base, the BTES counselors can help you design an individual program to meet your needs.

 

On-Base Colleges/Universities

**STATE FAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE (SFCC)
SFCC at Whiteman offers a general education curriculum to complete an associates degree program as well as the first 2 years of higher education if you plan to transfer to a 4­-year school. By receiving the associate of arts degree from SFCC, you will have met many lower division general education requirements for colleges and universities in Missouri that have accepted the guidelines of the coordinating Board of Higher Education. State Fair Community College academic transfer programs offer pre­professional study in: Agriculture, Art, Business, Accounting, Administration, Computer, Economics, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Dentistry, Earth Science, Engineering English/Literature, Forestry, General Studies, Journalism, Law, Liberal Arts, Mass Communication, Mathematics, Medicine, Music, Nursing, Organizational Communications, Pharmacy, Physical Education & Recreation, Physics, Psychology, Social Science, Social Work, Speech & Theater, Teaching, Theology, and Conservation. Credits earned at State Fair Community College are accepted at most state colleges, universities, and most private institutions. State Fair can help you define your goals and determine the best opportunities for you. SFCC offers many courses in general studies, management, and job-related areas that are required for the Community College of the Air Force degree program. Courses are also offered that meet the prerequisites of the Airman Education and Commissioning Program. Counseling services are available to aid students in planning their studies. **PARK UNIVERSITY
Park University is a private school based in Parkville, MO (north of Kansas City) and is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Park University at Whiteman AFB offers five bachelor of science degree programs including: Management, Management/Accounting, Management/Computer Information Systems, Social Psychology, and Management/Human Resources. Since Park University operates extension sites at over 37 bases, they are very familiar with military students' special needs. Evening classes, the acceptance of 84 transfer hours from 2­-year schools, 8-week terms and individualized instruction for near­-graduates are among the many services Park University provides to help students complete their degrees. Some of the courses at Park transfer to CCAF. Park also has several degree completions offered on-line. The Park University staff at Whiteman will help you with financial aid, career counseling and class scheduling. **WEBSTER UNIVERSITY
Webster University offers three Master of Arts (MA) degrees and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree on WAFB. Also offered is an MA degree in Management or Human Resources Development. Both MA programs require 36 semester hours to complete the degree with 21 of those hours in the discipline of study. The MBA is designed for students who want a quantitative orientation in their graduate program. The degree requires 21 semester hours in the MBA curriculum, an area of emphasis, and MA electives for a total of 48 semester hours. Classes are taught on a five term per year basis with classes meeting once per week for a 4-hour period nine times per term. Each class is taught in the Education Center with instructors from Kansas City and the local area. The site Director and Academic Advisor are available to help prospective students with such things as career ideas, scheduling, financial need, and school information. RELEASE OF INFORMATION
The Release of Information Office, located in the Outpatient Records section, processes incoming and outgoing requests regarding medical information. Services include transferring of records between military health care facilities, and providing copies when records cannot be released. Inside you will find Anthony's Pizza, Frank's Franks, Burger King, Robin Hood Deli, a coffee shop, flower, barber and beauty shops, a laundry/dry cleaner and a cellular phone retailer.
